Connect Google Search Console

Querywright reads the Search Console property you already have, one property for each site, and imports Google’s finalized numbers in the background.

What this connection reads

The connection is read-only. Querywright asks Google for read-only Search Console access and nothing more. It never edits the property, submits URLs, changes indexing or changes any Search Console setting.

With a property chosen for a site, Querywright reads:

  • Google’s finalized daily performance for the property: clicks, impressions, CTR and average position, with the top searches and pages Google reports. You read them in Search Console under Performance.
  • Google’s dated index report for a page and the property’s sitemap list, when your AI asks for them. Each site can have up to 100 index reports a day.

None of this uses your allowances. Imports, index reports and sitemap reads go through your own Google connection.

Before you start

  • An active subscription. Choosing a property and resuming an import need one. See Your subscription.
  • The site in Querywright. Add it in Settings → Sites first. See Sites.
  • A Search Console property your Google account can open. Querywright works with the properties Google already lets you see. It does not verify ownership for you, and it leaves out properties where your access is unverified.
  • A property that covers the site’s exact address. A Domain property covers its domain and every subdomain. A URL-prefix property has to match the site’s scheme and host exactly, so https://www.example.com and https://example.com need different URL-prefix properties, and so do http and https.

Connect

  1. Open Settings → Google Search Console and choose the site from Querywright site.
  2. Press Connect Google. Pick your Google account on Google’s screen and approve read-only access. You come back to Settings with “Google connected. Choose a compatible property for each site.”
  3. Check Google connection. Each connection shows “Connected” with the date and how many sites use it. If you connected more than one Google account, choose the one that can open the property.
  4. Open Compatible Google property. It lists only the Domain and URL-prefix properties that cover the site’s address. Choose one and press Use selected property. The App confirms “Property connected. Historical data will be imported automatically.”
  5. To connect another site, choose it from Querywright site and repeat steps 3 and 4. One Google connection can serve many sites.

The first import

Once a property is linked, Querywright imports up to 90 days of finalized history. The most recent 28 days come first, newest day first, then older history back to the start of the 90 days. After that, each newly finalized day is added on its own.

Google finalizes a day’s numbers a few days after it ends, and Querywright imports a date only once it is final, so the latest days always arrive a little later. The import runs in the background several times a day. You don’t need to keep the App open, and the App does not estimate when the history will be complete.

The Bound property box shows the property, its type (Domain or URL prefix) and the import state, then a line such as “Imported through Oct 7, 2026.” While history is loading it adds a progress bar, “N of M days imported”.

State What it means What to do
“Backfilling historical data” History is loading: recent days first, then older days back to the 90-day start. Nothing.
“Waiting for Google to finalize date” Google has not finalized that day yet. Querywright checks again automatically. Nothing. This is expected.
“Up to date” Every finalized day is imported. The next day follows once Google finalizes it. Nothing.
“Importing automatically” The import is running between the named states. Nothing.
“Retry scheduled” A day will be retried automatically. Nothing. “No action is needed.”
“Import is delayed” A day started importing and did not finish, or no progress was recorded across several scheduled runs. Wait for the next scheduled run. See Imports, backfills and incomplete periods.
“Import needs attention” The import is paused until you act. Follow the line under it. See Imports, backfills and incomplete periods.

What you’ll see in the App

  • Performance › Search Console shows the 30-day period ending on the last finalized date, how many of its days are imported and finalized, the four totals, and the top searches and pages. See Search Console.
  • Performance › Overview has a Search Console card with the import state.
  • The site status panel under the site switcher has a Search Console row, and All sites has a Search Console column. Both show the import state, “No property chosen” or “Not connected”.
Performance, Search Console tab: the import state line, the 30-day period with its coverage line, the clicks, impressions, CTR and average position totals, and the Top searches and Top pages lists.

Remove the connection

  1. In Settings → Google Search Console, choose the connection in Google connection.
  2. Press Remove connection, or Remove unused connection if no site uses it.

Querywright deletes the credential it stored for that connection. Sites that used it stop importing. Saved Search Console history stays available in the App and to your AI.

Removing the connection in Querywright does not revoke Querywright’s authorization at Google. To revoke it, use your Google Account security settings.
