Troubleshooting
Imports, backfills and incomplete periods
Most import states need nothing from you. Only “Import needs attention” waits for you, and the line under it says what to do.
You see an import’s state in the Bound property box in Settings → Google Search Console or Settings → Google Analytics, at the top of Performance › Search Console and Performance › Analytics, and in the site status panel under the site switcher.
“Backfilling historical data” for a long time
What it means. The first import is loading up to 90 days of history: the most recent 28 days first, then older days back to the start. The line under it says how far it has got, for example “Recent days first: catching up to finalized data through date, then older history back to date.” or “Older history is importing, stored through date, back to date.” A progress bar shows “N of M days imported”.
What to do. Nothing. The import runs in the background several times a day, whether or not the App is open.
What it is not. It is not stuck, and the App does not estimate a finish time. Recent days appear before the history is complete.
“Waiting for Google to finalize date”
What it means. Search Console only. Google finalizes each day’s numbers a few days after it ends, and Querywright imports a day only once it is final. “Querywright checks again automatically.”
What to do. Nothing.
What it is not. It is not an error, and the latest days are not missing for good.
“Up to date”, yet the newest days aren’t there
What it means. Every day that is ready has been imported. For Search Console the next day follows “once Google finalizes it”. For Google Analytics a day imports once it is 72 hours old in the property’s time zone.
What to do. Nothing.
What it is not. A short gap at the recent end is expected for both.
“Retry scheduled”
What it means. A day did not import on the last try and “will be retried automatically. No action is needed.”
What to do. Nothing.
“Import is delayed”
What it means. The line under it says one of two things:
- “date started importing but did not finish. The next scheduled run picks it up again.”
- “No import progress has been recorded across several scheduled runs. date is still queued.”
What to do. Nothing to press. The next scheduled run picks the day up.
What it is not. The import is not paused and nothing was lost. Your AI reports it as delayed, not as failed.
“Import needs attention”
What it means. The import is paused until you act. The line under it says why.
| Line | What to do |
|---|---|
| “Google access needs to be reconnected.” (Google Analytics: “Google Analytics access needs to be reconnected.”) | Press Reconnect Google (or Reconnect Google Analytics) and approve with the same Google account. Saved history and progress are kept. See Google sign-in and property connections. |
| “This Google account can no longer access the property.” (Google Analytics: “This Google account can no longer read the property.”) | Restore the account’s access to the property at Google, then press Reconnect Google (or Reconnect Google Analytics). |
| “date did not import after repeated tries.” with “Import paused after repeated failures. You can skip the failed date to resume.” | Press Skip failed date and resume. The import carries on from the next date. |
| “Importing is paused.” | Open the Settings section for that integration and follow the button shown in the Bound property box. |
When an import needs attention, Performance › Search Console links to Settings → Google Search Console, where these buttons are.
“Partial coverage” in Performance › Search Console
What it means. The 30-day period ending on the last finalized date is not complete yet. The coverage line reads, for example, “21 of 30 days imported and finalized · Partial coverage”, and a second line counts why days are missing:
| Reason | Meaning |
|---|---|
| “N days are queued for import” | They will be imported; the line names the dates. |
| “N days aren’t finalized by Google yet” | Google has not finalized them. |
| “N days are before the import start and won’t be imported” | They fall before the start of the 90-day history. |
| “N days were skipped after failed imports” | They were skipped with Skip failed date and resume and stay gaps. |
What to do. Usually nothing. Coverage fills as days arrive. Act only if the import shows “Import needs attention”.
What it is not. While coverage is partial, the clicks, impressions, CTR and average position totals show a dash. That is Querywright declining to present a partial period as a total, not a zero. Once every day in the period is in, the line reads “Complete coverage” and the totals fill in.
“No search rows available for this period. This doesn’t mean zero searches.”
What it means. Google reported activity for the site but returned no individual search rows. Google leaves out searches it treats as private or too rare and limits how many rows it returns. Two related lines: “N imported days have no site totals from Google. They don’t count as zero.” and “N imported days have no query/page detail rows from Google. Missing detail rows don’t mean zero searches.”
What to do. Nothing. See Measured zero vs no data.
What it is not. Missing rows are not zero, and site totals minus the listed rows is not a hidden segment of traffic.
“Waiting for mature data” in Performance › Analytics
What it means. No complete days are imported yet. Each day imports once it is 72 hours old, and the last 90 days import automatically. “Nothing here means poor performance; it means the days aren’t imported yet.”
What to do. Nothing. Check back after the first days are in.
Google Analytics shows fewer complete days than the period
What it means. The Organic search visitors panel names the period in the property’s time zone with “N of M days complete”. A comparison period marked “(incomplete)” is missing days too. A line such as “2 complete days had no Organic Search row from GA4.” means GA4 returned no organic search row for those days.
What to do. Nothing. Days fill in as they turn 72 hours old.
What it is not. These are not errors in the import. Revenue shown as “restricted by GA4” means GA4 restricts that metric for this Google account; it is not a zero.
